New York Mayor Eric Adams has announced the establishment of municipal digital property and Blockchain office in an effort to orders his cryptocurrency plan in the last months of his term.
In notification on Tuesday from the Mayor’s Office, Adams said He used an executive command according to his authority to create a digital assets and blockchain technology office. Moises Rendon, who worked as a digital asset adviser and blockchain policy for New York City since April 2024, will run the newly established office.
“Our city has always been the center of innovation and today we accept the technologies of tomorrow,” Adams said. “The age of digital assets is here, and it comes with a chance for the growth of our economy, attracting world class talent, expanding opportunities for tireless communities and making a government more acceptable to users.”
For many, Adams increased its prominent in the Kripto industry after offered to accept its first three wages at Bitcoin (BTC), while running for mayor 2021. During his time, as mayor, he founded a digital counseling council, urged the city to create BTC’s connection and criticized the New York Bitlicens program.
The NYC mayor announced in September that he would not run for a re -election after being initially a campaign as a democrat and then as independent. His current term ends on January 1, 2026.
