American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has released its annual transparency report, revealing that the company has experienced a significant increase in requests from law enforcement agencies.

In a report published on Monday, Coinbase he said from October 2024 to September 2025, it received 12,716 requests from law enforcement authorities worldwide, representing a 19% increase over the amount of requests reported in 2024.

Of those requests, the exchange said more than half — 53% — came from outside the United States, with 80% of them originating from the US, Germany, the UK, France, Spain and Australia.

“As in past years, the vast majority of requests we received both globally and in the US were from law enforcement agencies related to prosecution issues,” the report said.

According to the crypto exchange, the 2025 requests included “subpoenas, court orders, search warrants and other formal legal processes”.

Coinbase noted that users may be concerned about the privacy of their financial information, but the company had “an obligation to respond to these requests if they are valid under the laws that apply to us.”
